HIV has been in progress to spread since its first appearance because of non taken precautions by persons or health agencies. Developments about medical treatment of HIV are increasing day by day. However, agencies who are responsible for providing treament and people under risk are not informed of these developments. In our country HIV is not a epidemic situation yet. But our country is among the ones where HIV is on the increase while nowadays the number of cases are decreased almost all over the world. In order to prevent spread of HIV there should be studies aimed at stoping new cases. Therefore it is important to protect infected mothers who are determinants of new cases and their babies who will born. Although infection can be prevented by some precautions still there is few countries that end off infection between mother and baby. Preconceptional counselling and care program should include HIV test for all of the women planning to become pregnant. So care and treatment program for pregnant and fetus are organized and new cases can be prevented.
Health personnels especially nurses -professionals on women health- should follow the current developments about HIV and pregnancy period and apply care methods evidentially. Besides it is very essential to carry out public advocacy because of HIV’ social issues.
