Abstract

In this research, we have focused on the effect of distance education on school management during the pandemic process, and what difficulties and problems the school management faced. The aim of this research is to determine the technical and environmental (human) problems faced by the school principals and assistant principals in the official primary, secondary and high schools in the city center affiliated with the Ministry of National Education, Diyarbakir Provincial National Education, and how the distance education provided by the Eğitim Bilişim Ağı platform affects the school management. to reveal what it has created. The research has been designed in qualitative research design and case study model. The aim of this study is to find out the conditions of the school administration during the pandemic process, the problems it encountered, and how the school administration was affected by it. In this study, the study group has been determined by the maximum variation sampling technique. In order to collect data within the scope of the research, interviews were conducted with 11 (eleven) school principals and 16 (sixteen) deputy principals.

Online distance education was introduced in primary, secondary, and high schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education for the first time in the history of Turkish National Education. In schools that had no experience with distance education, distance education was launched for the first time across Turkey on March 23, 2020, and continued until June 18, 2021, when the schools were on holiday (MEB, 2021a). According to the interviews conducted within the scope of the research, it is possible to summarize the findings regarding the problems faced by the managers in this process as follows. In the process, it was also determined that having a lack of 

experience in distance education, school administration distance education forced them technically, and students and parents were caught unprepared for it. For many students, parents, and teachers, distance education was not efficient; online distance education student participation rate is low, It was understood that the school administration was negatively affected by this, low student participation in distance education and the education process was completed with difficulties.
