Abstract

The concepts of knowledge era and knowledge society, which have been mentioned quite often recently and whose effects are felt in almost all areas are an indication of the fact that knowledge has become an important force. The most prevailing knowledge of post-modern era was not only among the subjects of philosophy from the beginning of history to the present, but also among the subjects of sociology with the period of the Enlightenment. The formation of knowledge by the society has made the subject of its sociality remain on the agenda continuously.
When the stages of society are taken into account; each period has its own unique set of features. Nowadays, when information systems and technology are at a fairly advanced level, the fact that knowledge is a power element indicates that its value is increasing day by day. Although science and technology are at a very advanced level and they experience change and transformation in everyday life, the existence of the knowledge used in everyday life in the traditional dimension still continues.
The importance of traditional knowledge in ensuring the continuity of a particular culture is of considerable importance. Our purpose in this study is the historical background of traditional knowledge and knowledge history which undertake the task of passing down elements such as literature, art, science, religion, language etc. belonging to a society from generation to generation, traditional knowledge in knowledge society and everyday life, what kinds of transformation and change the knowledge society brings to the society, as well as how traditional knowledge maintains the vitality even in knowledge societies that have caught up with the level of contemporary civilization.
