The Role of the Arctic Region in Russian Foreign Policy

In this article, the aim of Russian foreign policy in the Arctic region, its strategy, competitors in the region, and the means to establish relationships have been examined. Firstly, the Russian Arctic Policy is outlined, and Russia’s purpose in the region is explained. Subsequently, moves such as Yamal LNG that align with this purpose have been analyzed. The interest and power of the United States as a competitor in the region have been investigated. In this context, the dimension of the relationship between China and Russia has been examined. Following that, the potential for tourism in the region has been explained. Finally, the challenges that the Kremlin has faced and may face in the region, and predictions about what could happen in the future, are presented in the conclusion section.
