The Effect of Music on Painting

Abstract

In the art world, the dialogue between painting and music has been ongoing for centuries. This study investigates the intersection points of these two branches of art by examining the works of painters who are considered pioneers in the combination of visual and audio arts. In particular, the works of Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee and Piet Mondrian highlight the process of transforming musical elements into painting and the profound impact of this process on abstraction and emotional expression. This article discusses the symbolic and aesthetic role of music in visual arts through historical and contemporary examples and analyzes in detail how artists use music as a source of inspiration in their works and the innovative forms of expression they create in this context. In this context, it discusses the multidimensional effects of using music in painting, how music creates a layer of meaning in visual arts, and how it contributes to the development of abstract art. As a result of the research, the artists' methods of expressing musical structures and rhythms through visual language are evaluated as elements that enrich the universal language of art, and attention is drawn to the interdisciplinary nature of art.
