Abstract

In today's competitive conditions where knowledge production is increasing, the physical resources of firms are losing their former importance and the concepts of knowledge management, intellectual capital assets, innovation and creativity are becoming increasingly important. The construction industry is a knowledge-intensive sector at the core of new ideas and is fundamentally the result of co-production between the knowledge worker and the customer. Therefore, companies operating in the construction sector should encourage and develop innovation by focusing on the importance of intellectual capital, which has a strategic importance in order to gain and maintain a competitive advantage in the global market. The study is based on a review of the literature on intellectual capital, innovation performance, competitive advantage and firm performance. The aim of the study is to reveal the relationship between intellectual capital and innovation performance in the Turkish construction industry and the mediating role of innovation performance in the impact of intellectual capital on competitive advantage and firm performance. In this context, the study proposes a theoretical model.
