Abstract

The main purpose of inclusive education is to enable students or children who require special attention to be educated with their peers. Inclusive education is very important for children to accept each other as they are, without separating and segregating individuals with special needs from society and without excluding each other. Thus, in addition to sharing with their peers, children achieve the targeted gains with many basic skills such as speaking, learning, and so on. Equality of opportunity will be provided for students with special needs with inclusive education. In this study, the definition, applications, importance, history of Inclusive Education, and the number of primaries (Pre-school, Primary, Secondary) and Secondary Education (High School) students in the last eighteen years of inclusive education in our country are discussed. In addition, the support education room, which forms the basis of inclusive education, and the individual education program are also included. By including the definition of students with special needs, who are the students with special needs was also mentioned. In this study, the evaluation of Inclusive Education in Turkey from the Republican era to the present is intended and the document analysis was used as a method since it requires the examination of written, printed, and visual sources. The data analysis process was done by using descriptive analysis, one of the data analysis techniques. In addition, the situation of inclusive education in our country is briefly mentioned in the conclusion section. This study has been prepared with the aim of being an informative study on inclusive education for school administrators, teachers, and families.
