Abstract

Depending on technological development and changes, different demands and requests arise when individuals meet health services. At the point of meeting these demands and requests, differences in health care are increasing day by day and this situation leads to competition in the sector. In the current competitive environment, it will be in the best interests of hospital managers to recognize the criteria that affect people's choice of hospitals. The aim of this study is to identify the factors affecting the hospital preferences of university students and to determine the role of the brand in the use of health services of students. The study also aims to determine whether the perceptions of importance to the brand differ according to their demographics. For this purpose, a survey was carried out among 800 students studying at Bitlis Eren University and the opinions of the students on the subject were collected. As a result of the research, it can be said that students mostly prefer public hospitals in hospital choices while most of them do not make any hospital preferences. Some expressed that their preferences may vary depending on the situation. In addition, it is clear that the factors which impact their preferences are mainly doctor quality, the quality of the hospital, the accessibility of the hospital, and the advice given by relatives-acquaintances.
