Abstract

This study, it is aimed to reveal the tendency of migration of young people living in the village and the reasons for this migration, to provide suggestions that could keep young people in villages and ensure development in rural areas. The study also examines to what extent the expectations of young people/families who migrated to the city were met.

The main material of the study was composed of primary data obtained through individual interviews with rural youth living in Taurus mountain villages in Adana province and focus group interviews with young people and families who migrated from these villages. In this study, it was determined that 77.5% of the youth tend to migrate from rural to urban. The most important finding of the study is that migration from rural to urban will continue and the young population prefers the instead of living in the village in case of income earning.
