Abstract

The power of the leader, which is related to the ability of a person to influence another person in the way they want and make the changes they want on that person, is an important determinant on the organizational performance of employees, In the study, the effects of the leader’s legitimate and coercive power on the organizational performance and the moderating effects of age marital status, child ownership, and income level were examined. In the study, a questionnaire form was applied to 427 private-sector employees in Istanbul Ataşehir. The data were analyzed with the SPSS-21 program and it was concluded that while legitimate power positively affected organizational performance, coercive power negatively affected organizational performance. Besides these findings, it was determined that marital status, child ownership, and income level have moderating effects.
