Abstract

With the arrival of the Baghdad railway line to Konya in 1896, hotels were among the buildings that started to exist in the city. The Selcuk Palas (Augustus) Hotel, which was built around the same years, adjacent to the Konya Train Station, was one of the qualified hotels built consecutively at that time. The building has changed many functions since the day it was built, and it was out of use for a long time from 1980 to 2011. The building, which attracts attention with its architectural style and originality, was brought back to the city after the restoration work carried out by Meram Municipality in 2012. In this study, in which Selcuk Palas hotel was discussed, the interventions made within the scope of re-functioning were shared and the old and new situation was conveyed by supporting technical drawings and visuals. In the period when it was built, it was thought that the shares regarding the building, which was thought to have contributed especially in terms of trade and socialization, were valuable in terms of re-functioning as well as bringing information about the original building to the literature. The structure discussed is also valuable as it is an example showing the contribution of local governments in the transfer of cultural assets, which have been brought to the society and evaluated with their functional potential, to future generations.
