Abstract

Tourism activities are carried out with the participation of individuals. Accordingly, people prefer safe and pleasing places in their destination selection. However, political or politic, natural disasters, outbreaks, or events such as terrorism can adversely affect the tourism industry. A number of measures are taken to stop or control the spread of outbreak diseases. In order to achieve this, the priority comes to stop or restrict airway transportation. Because airlines have an active role in the spread of outbreak diseases. This can negatively affect the tourism sector of the countries. In this context, the study attempted to examine the effects of recent outbreaks on the tourism sector within the scope of the Covid-19 pandemic, which is still effective today. The study was conducted by scanning and analyzing secondary data sources. Accordingly, data were obtained by scanning academic studies, reports, and statistics published by official and private institutions or organizations, and various websites. As a result of the data obtained, it has been determined that the tourism sector is affected negatively in countries where outbreak diseases are seen. At the same time, it was determined that the covid-19 pandemic had a devastating effect on the international tourism movement and significant declines were experienced.
