Abstract

Online learning offers students a wide learning environment in terms of transferring educational content through technology. The readiness of the students can be realized by making effective use of online learning environments. In this context, it is aimed to examine the readiness of students who receive undergraduate education in sports sciences at universities for online learning, which is one of the methods used in distance education applications, in terms of various variables in the research. The general survey model, one of the quantitative research models, was used in research. The sample consists of 124 volunteer students selected from the universe by a simple random method. The “Readiness for Online Learning Scale” developed by Hung, Chou, Chen, and Own (2010) and adapted into Turkish by Yurdugül and Alsancak (2013) was used as a data collection tool. As a result, in the study, based on the answers given by the students studying in the field of sports sciences in the sample to the scale items, it was determined that there was no significant difference in their readiness for online learning according to gender and the class they studied. It has been determined that a significant difference has been reached within some sub-dimensions of the scale according to the variable of tools they use and internet access. In this context, it can be said that students who have personal computers and internet access at home have higher readiness levels for online learning than other students. In this direction, it is thought that increasing technological opportunities and facilitating access to these opportunities will increase students' readiness for online learning.
