EVALUATION OF THE ACTIVITIES OF THE MALATYA CITY COUNCIL

Abstract

Specialization is important in the management of municipalities which are accepted as the most important level of local governments. City councils are of great importance in terms of providing the required specialization in the management of the municipalities and determining and solving their needs in the most accurate way.  This study, it was aimed to express the level of consideration of the recommendations made by the city council in the point of providing service to the local people of the metropolitan municipalities, and the benefits and activities of the city council to the city. In order to achieve this aim, the theoretical framework of the study has been prepared by using primary and secondary data obtained from domestic and foreign sources. In the study, Malatya City Council was examined with the case study method. In this context, a face-to-face meeting was held with the Malatya City Council official, using a semi-structured interview method. It was tried to obtain information about the institutional structure of the city council, its activities, and the level of consideration of the decisions taken by the council by the Malatya Metropolitan Municipality.
