ERMENEK HOUSES AS A CULTURAL HERITAGE AT RISK, EVALUATIONS IN CONTEXT OF KICIMAN HOUSE

Abstract

Although it is accepted that cultural heritage should be internationally protected with its values and efforts are focused on this, it can be said that cultural heritage is at risk for various reasons throughout the world. Cultural heritage, which is especially exposed to fire, earthquake, and flood disasters, is still left to its fate despite the development of conservation awareness and its destructive effects on the historical buildings could be observed at least as much as natural disasters. Despite the increase in economic support for conservation practices in recent years, we continue to losing unique cultural heritage and urban texture due to neglect. In this context, within the scope of this article, some evaluations were made in the context of the Ermenek Kıcıman House, where conservation projects were carried out in combination with university knowledge and financial funds provided by development agencies. Moreover, evaluations were made regarding the risks that cultural heritage faces and the need to take precautions against these risks. At the same time, it was emphasized that public resources and experiences should also contribute to this process
