Abstract

he main purpose of this research is to compare the occupational health and safety perspective of the Vocational Technical Anatolian High School students who have taken basic occupational health and safety training and the Anatolian High School students who have not taken occupational health and safety training. It is aimed to examine whether Vocational High School and Anatolian High School students have any idea about occupational health and safety before starting their business life and the perspectives of students on occupational health and safety. In the research, a questionnaire consisting of 36 questions was applied to 304 students studying in the Vocational High School and the 11th and 12th grades of Anatolian High School in “Gençosman Istanbul Stock Exchange Multi-Program Anatolian High School” in Güngören district. The data of the survey study were analyzed by the SPSS 22 statistical program. The opinions of the students studying at the Vocational High Schools that have hazard classification as hazardous, about the occupational health and safety practices in the schools and internship places were examined. As a result, although the majority of the students think that occupational health and safety training will provide them with a safe working environment, they find the training provided in this field insufficient. In addition, the majority of the participants want practical training together with theoretical training. Furthermore, the participants expressed mostly undecided and negative opinions on the fact that occupational health and safety training would be beneficial in their future working lives. Therefore, it is concluded that more efforts are needed to raise awareness about occupational health and safety.
