In this research, the works of Ağır and Yuruk Semai, which are the forms of the verbal music of Selim III, were examined in terms of the usûl-prosody meter relationship. In the lyrics composed by Sultan Selim III, intelligibility was at the forefront according to the language of the period. The purpose of carrying out this research; to reveal the deep meanings of his oral works, which he revealed with his innovative personality, without neglecting to adhere to the tradition in every branch of art, and the method patterns he used in the works he composed in the form of heavy and yürük semai. Along with the explanations of the lyrics, the meter tables of the lyrics are included in the content of this study.
Various written sources related to the research subject have been scanned, a literature review has been made as a data collection tool, and all of the oral works of Selim III that have survived to the present day are shown in tables. In the research, theoretical information and lyrics explanations of the maqams composed by Selim III, who is accepted as a master composer as well as his sultanate in the history of Turkish Music, are included, and the examination of six pieces in the form of heavy semai and yürük semai in terms of the method-prosody meter relationship
