Abstract

This study, it is aimed to examine the current knowledge levels of gifted students in terms of cultural IQ, cultural attitudes, and various variables (number of cultural trips, English proficiency level, class, age, gender).

The research is a descriptive study. The independent variable of the study consists of age, class, gender, English proficiency level, and the number of cultural trips, while the dependent variables consist of cultural IQ, cultural attitude, and current knowledge level.

The research was carried out with gifted students studying in Adana, Gaziantep, Malatya, Trabzon, Istanbul, Izmir, and Ankara in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd weeks of November in the 2020-2021 academic year. The research was implemented in seven cities in seven regions of Turkey in order to strengthen the representation ability. The research was carried out with a study group consisting of a total of 500 students, 355 girls, and 145 boys.

In cases where the current knowledge of the gifted students is moderate, the cultural attitude scores of the gifted students who have participated in cultural trips are higher, and the English proficiency of the gifted students is good; It also shows that their ability to accept information, receive information, communicate actively and adapt to different cultures is good. As a result of this study, it has been obtained the gifted who experience current events knowledge, cultural programs, foreign songs, maps, and cultural exchange experience can improve their ability to adapt to different cultures when they reach different cultural information more.

Considering all these data, additional education programs should be prepared in institutions that provide education to gifted students.

As a result, it can be said that this research reveals concrete findings and important evidence for the relationship between gifted students' cultural IQ, cultural attitudes, and current knowledge levels. In this respect, it is thought that the study will fill an important gap in the field of special education.
