A LOCAL DYNAMICS IN THE CONTEXT OF CONTINUITY OF CULTURAL HERITAGE: KIRIKKALE-KESKIN RAHMI PEHLIVANLI MANSION

Abstract

Historical buildings, which have been destroyed in recent years before reaching the present, are in danger due to the inadequacy of conservation awareness and policies, and this causes the concept of cultural heritage to be damaged. Conservation and reuse studies to prevent this have gained importance in terms of the continuity of cultural heritage. The houses/mansions among the historical buildings are made to be used again by applying various methods with the values ​​they have. One of them is museum houses. The museum houses both reflect the lives of important people and reveal the architectural character of the region. Thus, an important dynamic is formed for the region.

The study is about the Rahmi Pehlivanlı Museum House in the Keskin district of Kırıkkale province in the Central Anatolian region. Based on the assumption that although there are many residences/mansions in the region, there is not enough work done and therefore there is a problem in the protection of the cultural heritage, it is aimed to ensure that the region and the building in question reach the recognition they deserve. In this context, Rahmi Pehlivanlı Museum House was examined with a "case study", one of the qualitative research methods. The data of the building were evaluated with the obtained information, documents, and on-site interviews. Within the scope of the evaluation, it has been seen that Rahmi Pehlivanlı Mansion reflects the architectural character of the region since it has identity elements that reflect the traditional house/mansion structure in Keskin district. For this reason, besides showing the cultural heritage of the building, it is also important to protect it and transfer it to future generations and thus ensure its continuity. With the study, it is thought that Rahmi Pehlivanlı Museum House, which has a local dynamic, will contribute to the region by raising awareness
