The general purpose of this research is to make a cognitive triad diagnosis. In this study conducted through survey model, the cognitive triad inventory which consists of three sub-scales was used to collect data. The research was conducted on 289 students studying at two faculties of Afyon Kocatepe University. According to the findings of the research, it has been determined that there are positive and significant relationships between the grade point average and the overall and sub-scale averages of the cognitive triad inventory. Among the independent variables in the study, only department has showed statistically significant difference of opinion. According to these findings, the cognitive triad can be associated with general academic achievement. It is thought that a diagnosis to be made in terms of the cognitive triad in teaching and training activities will provide important information in planning and realizing learning experiences. Besides, it has been revealed that there is a need to study whether the significant difference of opinion which is observed in terms of the department is related to the teaching carried out or not; in other words, how the learning experiences of the department improve the cognitive triad.
