In this research, it is aimed to reveal the views of the Private Security and Protection program students about the Close Defense course, which includes a large amount of practice in the distance education period. This qualitative research was carried out with a descriptive case study approach. 54 students studying in the Private Security and Protection program and taking the close defense course with distance education were included in the research. Research data were collected with a semi-structured interview form. As a result of the research, the participants regarding the problems that may be experienced in the close defense lesson were gathered in different categories such as the lesson being based on practice, the ineffectiveness of distance education, learning deficiencies, the application of exams and technology-related deficiencies. On the other hand, it was seen that the suggestions of the participants in order to make the Close Defense lessons more effective in the distance education process were gathered in different categories such as partially doing it remotely (mixed), using digital learning tools more actively, being able to follow the students and increasing the course hours.
