ANCIENT GREEK MYTHOLOGY AND DIONYSOS IN ART OF PAINTING

Dionysus is one of twelve gods of Olympus who was also named ‘the god of wines’ and was related with all objects of daily human life including but not limited to grape leaves, pine trees and ivies in ancient Greece. He is the son of Zeus and Semele who is the most social and inspiring god in antient Greek and Roman culture. The following subjects were studied in this article: Dionysus’ place in antient Greek and Roman mythology as a cult, his creation (birth) myth, his relations with other gods in Olympos, his conquering trips, his travels, and wineyard vintage stories. These were presented as they were told in basic mythical stories by explaining the environment in the old real life stories. With this study, the effects of the mythical stories on humanity and art history from ancient times to current day also has been given. To complete this task, the creation in antient Greek mythology was presented in the first part; the birth and life of Dinosysus was given in the second part; the Dinosysus cult was conderred in the third part; and, Kent Dynosia (the Great Dynosia), Laneea, Anhesteria, and Country Dynosia (the Little Dynosia) was reported in the fourth and final part. Related pictures were presented and explained in the article in association with each subject.
