In this article, the musical identity of Alexander Konstantinovich Glazunov, the important Russian composer of the Romantic Period, is discussed and "Op. 44 Elegie for Viola and Piano” has been analyzed in terms of form, harmonic, technical and musical aspects. In the study, detailed researches were made on the characteristics of the Romantic period, its composers, romantic music forms and Russian music, and the composer's life, style and works were examined. Afterwards, the focus was on the "elegie" form, the piece was examined in detail for the musical and technical aspects, detailed information and study suggestions were presented. The fact that there is no Turkish publication about. A.K. Glazunov has been our motivation to search on this subject. In this study, which focuses on the use of foreign sources, it is aimed to set an example for many musicians and commentators who want to perform the work. In the research, which is a descriptive study, source scanning and analysis methods were used. Another aim of this research is to create a resource that can be used due to the lack of Turkish resources related to the subject. Due to the scarcity of romantic literary works in the viola and piano repertoire, this research serves to set a precedent for the performers who will perform similar works. Examining the Op.44 Elegie for Viola and Piano composed by A.K. Glazunov, due to the contribution of Russian music and composers to the development of string instruments technique and the culmination of romantic period music's musical expression, has enabled us to create a useful study in order to give advice to young performers
