Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the effectiveness of Goodness (Keeping Goodness Journals) activity in helping students gain the value of kindness. At the same time, students' views of kindness will be revealed with Goodness. As a result of this study, which was applied to the 7th grade of secondary school, it is thought to encourage students to do good and to make them realize the value of kindness and good people around them. The research was designed as a qualitative study to examine the effect of the Goodness activity. The questionnaire, participatory observation method and interview techniques were used in our study. When the views of secondary school 7th grade students on the Goodness activity were analyzed, it was determined that the majority of the students found this activity useful. . The activity created a desire to do good in students and increased the number of good deeds. It has also been determined that there are differences in students' perceptions of the concept of kindness, but positive changes have occurred in their perspectives on the concept of kindness with the Goodness activity. However, it was also revealed that students had prior knowledge about the value of benevolence. In addition, it is understood that with Goodness, students begin to notice the goodness around them that they do not pay attention to. As a result of the research, suggestions were presented to increase the number of those who do good in students and society
