ANALYSING OF VISUAL USAGE IN THE TEXTBOOKS OF SOCIAL STUDIES

The object of this research is to determine visual usage situations are in Social Studies textbooks. For this purpose, 5th, 6th and 7th Grade Social Studies textbooks were examined. In the research, document review method was used among the qualitative research methods. Social studies textbooks were used as a document. After determining the visual usage levels of the textbooks, evaluations were made according to the data obtained. According to the findings, it was found that visual usage levels were not evenly distributed. In terms of visual diversity, it was concluded that 7th- grade textbook is more than other textbooks. Visual use is important for students to embody abstract subjects. Therefore, the visual usage levels in 5th and 6th- grade textbooks should be increased.
