Abstract

Local governments maintain their importance today as they were in the past in the provision of public services. In the process of change in public administration, local administrations and non-governmental organizations appear as important actors. Participatory management is one of the most emphasized concepts in the transition from traditional public administration to new public administration. In this context, local governments and non-governmental organizations have important responsibilities in the realization of participatory management. In this study is come up and developing of the municipalities in Turkey and studies are examined to ensure local participation. This issue is included in both national and international regulations, and the importance of active participation of individuals living in the city in both the determination and implementation processes of urban policies are emphasized. In which projects and what kind of studies participatory management is included, and which dimension of participatory management is emphasized in legal regulations, answers are sought. Evaluations are made for the local implementation of participatory management
