WHAT IS AN EARTHQUAKE? HOW DOES IT OCCUR? EARTHQUAKES IN TURKEY AND WHAT ARE THEIR EFFECTS, SUGGESTIONS FOR MEASURES TO BE TAKEN AGAINST EARTHQUAKE

Abstract

This study; Defines the earthquake, which has existed since the formation of the world and will continue to affect human life as long as humanity and life exist and will affect human life in different dimensions, to have general information about earthquakes, to understand the causes and types of earthquakes, to have information about earthquake types, about earthquake terms and parameters. It is aimed to have a general opinion. It is known that since the formation of the world, earthquakes occur consecutively in seismically active regions and as a result, millions of people and their shelters are destroyed. As it is known, our country is located in one of the most active earthquake zones in the world. It is a fact that we will suffer a great loss of life and property due to frequent earthquakes in the future, just as there have been many devastating earthquakes in our country in the past. In addition, in this study, the intensities and effects of earthquakes that occurred throughout the history of the republic in Turkey were mentioned, and suggestions were tried to be presented to minimize the destructive effects of earthquakes by emphasizing the measures that can be taken against new earthquakes that may occur in line with the information and findings obtained.
