Abstract

This study was conducted to investigate the self-esteem levels of amateur footballers. The study group was; Among the amateur footballers in Düzce province, 173 volunteers participated in the study. In the research, self-assessment scale developed by Rosenberg (1965) was used as a data collection tool. The validity and reliability study of the scale was conducted by Çuhadoroğlu (1986). The scale consists of 63 items and 12 subscales. In this study, self-esteem subscale, which includes the first 10 items of the inventory, was used. Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) 22.0 was used for the analysis of the data. Non-parametric tests were used since the p value of the self-esteem level was less than 0.05. Mann-Whitney U in pairs, Kruskal Wallis Test in multiple groups, and Pairwise Comparison test were used to determine the meaningful differences between groups. Significance level was accepted as (p <0.05). As a result, there was no significant difference between the variables of age, place of residence, number of siblings, education status, father education status, mother education status, father occupation and football playing time. 1250 ₺, large family structure, the mother is retired, the economic gain was found to be a statistically significant difference in favour of playing football (p <0.05).
