Abstract

It includes complex processes in which cognitive, socio-economic and cultural factors play a role in supporting each student's university or program preference. It is expected that factors determining students’ department preferences and academic studies on their profiles also individual and social needs contribute significantly to specifying this tendency, Thus, the objective of this study is to determine weight and priority of the factors affecting students’process who are choosing social work departments in Turkey In this study, it is aimed to describe students who prefer social work undergraduate programs on certain parameters. in 2017 Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS) In this context, in line with the purpose of the study, 2017 data related to the social work education offered at the Higher Education Institution (YÖK) Undergraduate Preference Atlas was examined by using the descriptive scanning model. Consequently, it reveals that social work programs are departments preferred by students, but the institutional and academic structure for social work education should be reconsidered over certain standards.
