INVESTIGATION OF PRIMARY SCHOOL STUDENTS' METAPHORIC PERCEPTIONS ABOUT KEY VALUES

Values education is one of the most important situations in the education system. Values should be gained through the education system so that students can grow up as individuals who depend on individual and social values as well as successful individuals. This study was carried out to determine the metaphorical perceptions of elementary school students regarding the key values of "justice, friendship, honesty, self-control, patience, respect, love, responsibility, patriotism, altruism" in 2018 curricula. A data tool regarding the key values was sent to 19 primary school students reached for this purpose and students were asked to fill this form. The data obtained were analysed by the researchers and the answers given by the students were tabulated. When the answers given by the students are examined; the results were achieved as the value of justice was more associated with equality, trust with friendship, integrity with truth, self-control with self-restraint, patience with waiting, respect with truth, love with family, responsibility with the task, patriotism with the nation.
