Artists/designers/illustrators continued their production by developing different techniques and methods according to the possibilities of their time and different forms of expression of the period. One of these techniques is collage, which is the basis of artistic joining techniques. The collage; which was accepted as an artistic expression in the first quarter of the twentieth century; it has taken place in many disciplines from visual arts to literature, from architecture to theater. One of the effective application areas of collage technique from past to present has been pictured children’s books. The question of how the collage, which is considered as an important turning point in the development of modern art and design, affects children’s books with pictures is the starting point of this research. In this study, it will be tried to analyze how collage takes place in illustrated children’s books as a way of seeing and thinking and how it has developed as an illustrative style. In this context, the renewed application approaches of the collage technique with the changing expression styles and digital technologies in the periods of modern and postmodern will be investigated in illustrated children’s books. Within the scope of the research, leading illustrators of the relevant periods and collage application techniques will be examined.
