BARRIERS OF GREEN SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT IMPLEMENTATION: AN APPLICATION IN KIPAŞ PAPER FACTORY

Both manufacturing and service company focus on environmental issues. Businesses are evaluating their negative effects on the environment through green thinking and they start their activities by adopting the green concept. But businesses are facing a number of obstacles when performing these activities. The aim of this study is determination these barriers on front of green supply chain implementation. This study was carried out by using the AHP in a paper factory in Kahramanmaras. Five main criteria; finance, participation and support, technology, information and outsourcing and twenty-six sub-criteria associated with main criterias were used by creating decision hierarchy of problem. Identified barriers are listed according to severity rating and the reliability of order of precedence has been confirmed by means of sensitivity analysis. The general conclusion reached by the analyzes is that the outsourcing is the most important barrier between finance, technology, participation and supporting, outsourcing, information in according to analyzes. This study is the first in terms of barriers identified in the paper industry in the literature of Turkish supply chain
