Abstract

Events that deeply affect societies are of a historical nature. Through the development of technology, the past is preserved not only in books but also in art. The moment when the camera is invented is immortalized. With the invention of the camera, the past moment is caught and hidden in motion without stopping. This progress has led to the development of the field of art parallel to the development of technology. Apart from being the date, the historical moment was also the subject of cinema. Thus, the past is preserved by blending with the cinema at the present time. The study was based on the assumption that the Civil War in Spain had conflicts within itself, apart from only the right and left distinctions. The universe is a film about the Spanish Civil War. The limitation is Land and Freedom (1995), directed by Ken Loach. Hypothesis; In Land and Freedom, the separations that lived on the left-hand side of the civil war have been re-established at that time without breaking away from its historical dimension. The aim of the study is to examine historical criticism and discourse analysis method which reflects on the cinema without breaking the historical context of the civil war in the film.
