OUTLOOK ON MUSIC TEACHING EDUCATION PROCESS IN GRADUATE THESES

The aim of this study is to express what kind of distribution music teaching education process exhibits in graduate theses. It is believed that the study will be beneficial in terms of investigating the graduate thesis studies prepared with regard to the music teaching program bachelor’s process and providing a general framework of the studies conducted in this area. The study was started from the question which direction the results of these studies will take. In the study, it is believed that the results obtained from graduate theses on the music teaching bachelor’s program will contribute to the creation of the literature for researchers who would like to carry out research in this field. To this end, literature research was conducted on graduate theses written between the years 2010 and 2017 on the music teaching education process, and the categorical analysis of the data obtained was performed. A document review was performed in the analysis of the data. Postgraduate studies conducted on the music teaching education process were grouped under nine main titles (1) by the gender of the researcher, (2) the year, (3) type of thesis, (4) the region, province, university and institute where the thesis was conducted, (5) the subject and sub-subject examined, (6) method, (7) data collection tools, (8) sample group and sample size, and (9) data analysis methods. 142 theses, which are master’s and doctorate theses, were reached. The research is a descriptive study, and the results of the findings obtained with the document review were achieved and interpreted. As a result of the study, it was determined that 45% of the master’s theses in question were carried out in 2010 and 2014, 54% were master’s studies, 49% were conducted on musical instrument training, 83% were quantitative studies, and 4th-grade students were selected as the sample group in 73%.
