THE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY PROJECTS IN PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS: THE CASE OF MUNICIPALITY OF NEVŞEHİR

Abstract

Nowadays, the institutions which don’t care the social benefit can’t carry on in the existing competitive market. It is almost impossible that institutions which operate on the purpose of gaining profit survive by doing so. Therefore, providing the continuity and conserving the field of action of institutions are directly related to being sensitive to the society, environment and the people. As all institutions care social benefit, public institutions are supposed to do the same, too. At this stage, social responsibility is an application area necessary for all institutions. In this context, as long as public institutions sustain social responsibility projects, they reinforce their legitimacy.
Municipalities which are among the local government units are supposed to serve in the field of infrastructure, health, reconstructure, education, transportation, culture and art. These public institutions established to satisfy the demands of public ideally do also different works caring social benefits on one’s own initiative. Municipalities serving much more by considering the public interest have a better place in the eyes of the public. Municipalities can actively communicate with people by social responsibility projects for this purpose. In this study, the case study method was used. Also the Municipality of Nevşehir’s social responsibility projects which they run in the field of health, culture, education etc. by caring social benefit are examined and it can be stated that the Municipality of Nevşehir cares of social responsibility projects in the context of administrative mentality with data collected from the study.
