HUMAN VALUES THAT ARE POSSESSED BY THE ARTISANS

Abstract

The showcase of a city is the artisans in it. The humanitarian values are therefore the reflections of a city. The purpose of this research is to determine the humanitarian values that the artisans in Yozgat have. In this study, the human values of the artisans are analyzed in term of the variables including gender, age, work experience, type of work performed, income level, education level. Using the survey method, this research is a descriptive study. Population of the study composed of 12.000 artisans who working in Yozgat. The study group consists of 150 artisans who have been randomly selected from the artisans in Yozgat. The study uses the Basic Human Values Scale developed by Schwarts (2006)in order to determine the basic human values adopted by the artisans, and a personal information form to collect data pertaining to the variables. For the analysis of the data, the study uses frequency, means and percentage distribution, t-test and ANOVA techniques. According to the results, it has been determined that the artisans have had the humanitarian values at the “Agree” level. Also it has been understood that related with the sub-dimensions of humanitarian values, at all dimensions, the humanitarian values are at “Agree” level similar to the general average. It has been determined that unlike the experience, education and income levels, there is a meaningful difference at the humanitarian values the artisans have when sexuality and age are considered
