AN EXAMINATION OF THE PLACE AND IMPORTANCE OF HEALTH TOURISM IN TÜRKİYE TOURISM: 2018-2022

Abstract

People's desire to travel is based on various reasons and their interest in different types of tourism is increasing day by day. Tourists participate in tourism activities for different reasons such as visiting, seeing, having fun, sporting activities and health. One of the reasons that make up these tourism movements is travel for health purposes. Although these travels made for health tourism date back to ancient times, their importance is increasing day by day. Regarding the subject, the main purpose of this study is; To analyze the place and importance of health tourism within the scope of health tourism in Turkey. For this purpose, the data from the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK) was used as a secondary source in the study.

As a result of the study; In the period covering the years 2022-2018, health tourism is not in the first place in the reasons of arrival and expenditure incomes of tourists visiting Turkey. On the other hand, it is seen that there are significant increases in both the number of tourists and tourism revenues within the scope of health tourism.
