Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine the profiles of parents who refuse the vaccination by revealing the details of the intellectual development process of anti-vaccination. The study was conducted using a quantitative methodology. The target audience is composed of 83 parents 74 of which are women and 9 of men living in various provinces of Turkey who have vaccination hesitance and refused vaccination. Snowball sampling method was used to collect data and quantitative interview form was used as a data collection tool. The findings obtained are supported by qualitative explanations where appropriate and necessary. After completion of relevant interviews and determination of the findings and analysis, it was found that the profile who has adopted the idea of anti-vaccination, has high socio-cultural and socioeconomic income levels, consisting of parents with few children, having investigative and questioning personality traits, and the idea behind anti-vaccination has emerged as an opponent attitude to modern medical practices, as an individual manner. The data systematically revealed by this research is expected to pave the way for future for anti- vaccination researches and will be references to micro, mezzo and macro-level applications that may be established within the framework of public health and medical social work science which have preventive and protective foundations
