Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the effect and change of static and dynamically applied warm-up and stretching exercises during 12 weeks on athlete's speed, agility, jump and flexibility parameters of male basketball players of the adolescent period. The athletes of participating in the research are divided into two groups as experimental (n=11; average age=16.360.81 years; average height=178.648.18 cm; average body weight=64.978.85 kg) and control (n=13; average age=15.460.52 years; average height=177.159.31 cm; average body weight=65.5710.69 kg) groups. In the research, 30 m speed, Illinois agility, sit and reach flexibility, vertical jump and flexibility tests were applied to all groups before and after the 12-week training program. Experiment and control group continued routine basketball training for a minimum of 2 hours a day, 3 days a week for 12 weeks. The data obtained in the study was applied, after the descriptive statistics were done in the SPSS 24.0 statistics program, Wilcoxon test in the intra-group analysis and Mann-Whitney U test in inter-group analysis. The level of significance was accepted as p<0.05. In the study, a statistically significant difference was found between the pre and post-test values of the experimental group on Illinois agility, vertical jump and sit&reach tests, and the control group's a statistically significant difference was found between the pre and post-test values of the sit&reach test (p<0.05). In comparisons between groups, a statistically significant difference was found between the posttest values of 30 m speed, vertical jump and sit&reach tests (p<0.05). As a result of the research, it can be said that the static and dynamic warm-up exercises that are applied before the training for 12 weeks have positive effects on the speed, agility, jump and flexibility values of male adolescent basketball players.
