Abstract

Characteristic properties of child paintings have been still found attractive in our present culture since they are examples of primitive estheticism. The primitive estheticism is a “visual” concept pointing out the cultural and historical basis of the common communication which the first “cognitive process” of the humanity in the care era established with the child paintings of the present day. The primitive estheticism constitutes the first model of the artistic tendencies of the human with all characteristics she bears. In this context, determining the relations of the child paintings with qualifications pertaining to creativity and art constitutes the basic ground of the article.
In this article, the process of conversion of “paintings with characteristic properties” into illustrative designs after having been re-interpreted by methods belonging to the digital technology in the basis of historical and cultural relations of the “primitive estheticism” with child paintings was tried to be presented as a model proposal. In this “conversion design study”, strict attention was paid into the maintenance of the “basic characteristics” of the child paintings which were passed through illustration treatments with professional interventions. The visual changes made were performed in such a way which will be compatible with the visual characteristics of the paintings.
Also, in this study, the patterns of approach to the digital illustration in terms of image processing techniques were established within the framework of “graphic communication and expression principles. In this scope, the attention was drawn for having such a kind of illustrative applications which may be included in the graphic arts’ culture that can adapt to the visual expression and communication principles.
