Abstract

One of the main outcomes of research on social media is that it allows users to obtain information about the socio-cultural and ideological approaches. Users are reproducing this discourse by commenting on the content shared by others and sharing these contents on their social media accounts, along with the interaction feature that new media provides. Within the scope of our article, one of the most popular social media channels, twitter, has been tried to examine the user approaches. In addition, the public spot on the promotion of the law on the prevention of violence against women, which was shared on the official twitter account of the Presidency on 23 November 2018, was analyzed. In order to determine the level of interaction of social media users via the share sharing, a discourse analysis was carried out in order to determine the comments, retweet counts, statistical analysis over likes and how they approached the concept of violence against women. In the analysis, the interaction rates between 23 November and 3 December on the content of the shared public spot, the increase in the comments made in the timeframe, the retweeting and acceptance of the tweets sent by the users were also analyzed.
