Cemil Meriç was a very special thinker among the Turkey’s Republican Era intellectuals. His literary style which fed by Arabic and Persian, had a powerful impact on any readers. He devoted himself to intellectual life and he always chose to understand, not to condemn or acquit. He kept away from ideologies, because of this he had not much followers. He never gave up on searching the truth and therefore did not become a public intellectual. He was a real searcher. Because of this, he wrote Saint-Simon, Marx or Dündar Taşer, Said Nursi up. For him this was not bizarre on the contrary, an intellectual task.
In this paper, we tried to exposure what reasons makes him a special maybe unique thinker among contemporary Turkish intellectuals and again we tried to analyse his some intellectual attitudes.
