Abstract

City logos are used to distinguish a city from other cities and to reveal the identity of the city. The logo, which is a visual
indicator of urban identity, is also a corporate brand value that introduces the city and reveals its difference. It is observed that
the cities, which have a large share in the tourism market, use local symbols and values carefully in their logos. Each city has
its historical history, natural beauties and local symbols that distinguish it from other cities. The purpose of this research; To
evaluate the historical, natural and local symbols used in logos of Bitlis and districts in terms of design, color, shape, quality
and technique. The research data were obtained by examining the documents, corporate websites, promotional films and
catalogs of Bitlis and its districts. In line with the purpose of the study, Bitlis Governorship, Bitlis Municipality and 6 districts
of the district governor and municipality logos were analyzed and descriptive analyzes were made. Results; It shows that the
historical, natural and local symbols of Bitlis and its districts are used successfully in their logos. However, there are significant
deficiencies in the color, shape, quality and technical aspects of the logos and the symbols used in the logos. Within the existing
logos, Ahlat logo appears as the most professional logo in terms of color, shape, quality and technique. This is followed by the
logos of the Governorship of Bitlis and the District Governor of Tatvan.
