Abstract

In many studies, it can be observed that there is the issue of being inspired by other works or works that are extremely similar or even identical. When it comes to music, we can hear the motives of other famous composers in the masterpiece of many known composers. This is of course rarely seen. In popular music today, sometimes we hear familiar tunes as if there is no difference between the popular version and the original. However, when it comes to instrument training, the selection of the pieces is of great importance. The trainer should only give pieces that portray the original one in order to be complementary and reinforcing. While teaching classical Western music in standard piano education, we should also introduce the works of our own composers to the students. Within the scope of this study, there is a total of five piano starter Western and Turkish pieces with identical styles. Harmonically, melodically, texturally, rhythmically and technically all these compositions are analyzed. As a result, studying these pieces one after the other will improve the student's knowledge of interpretation, technique, expression and style.
