The training of the individual is important in shaping the control locus, which is defined as the internal and external causes that are seen as the result of the behavior of the individual and of the resources. In this framework, it was aimed to determine the control locus of students studying in ship management and ship machinery, and the research was conducted on 97 students in the final year of a maritime vocational school. Statistical data, descriptive statistics and explanatory factor analysis were obtained from students with the help of SPSS 21 statistical package program. Survey findings show that marine students have higher external control locus than internal control locus. At the end of the study, the low internal control locus of maritime students revealed that more responsibility for maritime education should be given to students and problem solving skills should be developed.
