Physical education and sports lessons, which cannot be separated from education and training, are an inseparable part of the
education and training system. Physical education is important in the formation of general education. This course is an
important factor in people's mental and physical development as well as in the societies in which they are healthy, productive,
balanced and happy. For this reason, physical education and sports lessons have a significant impact on the development of
students. The purpose of this research; The aim of this study is to present the ideas of secondary and high school students about
physical education and sports lesson. In the study, open-ended questions developed by the study as a data collection tool were
presented to the students who are studying in secondary and high schools. In the study, interview method which is one of the
qualitative research methods was used. The data obtained from 80 secondary school and high school students in Gaziantep
were analyzed by content analysis method.
According to the results of the research and the results of the statistics, the secondary and high school students who participated
in the research; physical education and sports course in terms of development of the benefit they see, as well as this lesson was
seen as a fun lesson. It is concluded that students contribute to the mental, social, health and physical development of this
course. In addition, it was concluded that the lack of equipment, insufficient physical environment conditions and the shorter
hours of the lesson had a negative effect on the effect of the physical education and sports lesson and the contribution to this
lesson.
