THE INVESTIGATION OF THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN OCCUPTİONAL PROFESSIONALISM AND ATTITUDE TOWARD PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT OF TEACHERS

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between teachers' occuptional professionalism and their attitudes towards professional development. The study is designed with correlational research methods. The sample of this study is consist of 153 students from 14 different schools in Elazig in Turkey. Data is collected in 2016 through occuptional professionalism scale which was developed by Yılmaz ve Altınkurt (2014) and attitude toward professional development scale which was developed Sessions and Brynes (2005) and adapted to Turkish by Özer and Beycioğlu (2010). In the analysis of the research data, descriptive statistics such as mean and standard deviation and simple linear regression analysis is used. Findings show that teachers' occuptional professionalism levels and attitudes towards professional development are moderate level. It is determined that attitudes towards professional development significantly predicted occuptional professionalism and %32 of the variance of teachers’ occuptional professionalism can be explained by teachers’ attitudes towards professional development. Research results show that attitude towards professional development is an important variable that can be used to explain occuptional professionalism
