Abstract

The US presidential system has become a subject of much research in recent years. Presently, as a solution, the presidential system is presented to instabilities based on coalitions, especially in the parliamentary system. This study aims to clarify the presidential system debates.
Within the framework of this study, firstly, the only country that proper implementation of the system application in the United States, were examined is the strategic nature of the presidential system laid down and applicability in Turkey, it has been investigated experimentally. For this purpose, a questionnaire was applied to the students studying at state and foundation universities in Istanbul in 2016. 734 students participated in the survey.
As a result, students of the university species they read, strong institutional structure, legislative, sharp separation of powers between the executive and the judiciary, a strong judiciary, while US-specific factors directs the activities of the presidential system in the United States, its applicability in Turkey of separation of powers and the presidential regime in the US, the opinions on the subject differed. At the same time, university students who are interested in political issues; a statistically significant difference was found between the strong institutional structure, the separation of powers in the United States, and their views on strong local governments
