A SOCIOLOGICAL GLANCE ON THE DISCUSSIONS OF MULTILINGUALISM IN EDUCATION: MUŞ ALPARSLAN UNIVERSITY, KURDISH LANGUAGE AND LITERATURE STUDENTS SAMPLE

The discussions of multilingualism in education have been continuing for a long time in our country. And as the basis of these discussions, there’s the question of how the education and training activities will be carried out in a language other than Turkish. And, Kurdish’s, as a sample of education language, starting the activities of education and training with Turkish, have been on the centre of these discussions. During certain periods, Kurdish language courses have been established and in the sequel, with the decision of The Council of Higher Education, the education and training activities in Kurdish language in the fields of bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate level at Mardin Artuklu, Muş Alparslan and Bingöl Universities have started. So, this study has been carried out on the students of Muş Alparslan University, Department of Kurdish Language and Literature and has taken the relationship between the multilingualism and other variables to the center. As the Department of Kurdish Language and Literature is a new department, the current number of students is 128, and the survey that we have prepared was conducted on 48 females and 80 males with the method of purposive sampling. These surveys that were carried out were analyzed and concluded with SPSS Data Analysis technique. And, in consideration of these statements, the question of, whether the multilingual education will be permanent or not after having the problems solved, have been analyzed comparatively with Chi-Square Test, Frequency and Cross Table, and a general evaluation was made regarding the results of these information
