Abstract

The phenomenon of violence is seen at an increasing rate in every age group and segment of society. It is observed in official statistics, and especially in the news reflected in the media, that domestic violence has increased and spread to the entire community life. Social factors (patriarchal structure), perception of gender roles, and socio-cultural and economic structure of the family (poverty, employment, family size, etc.) have a significant impact on the phenomenon of violence. Violence is a learned behavior and women are predominantly affected by the phenomenon of violence in the family. Perpetrators of violence are mostly men. For this reason, the phenomenon of violence in society is used as violence against women and/or masculine violence. Adana province has been one of the top cities in terms of violence against women in recent years. This study includes the results of the SODES Project implemented in Yüreğir, Seyhan, Çukurova, and Sarıçam districts of Adana province in order to prevent domestic violence. Within the scope of the project, it is aimed to raise awareness in the target group in the research area by providing training in 3 different modules in order to prevent violence against women and raise awareness about gender. As a result of the research, before and after the training were compared and it was determined that there was a positive awareness in the target audience. In this context, the aim of the project has been achieved and the basic proposal of the study is to ensure the continuity of the training and to give women legal and economic power.
